Kammerton

Russian producer, dj and post-production sound director Stepan Chernov can safely be considered a musical universal. Stepan waseducated in native Ulyanovsk and has a pianist and kapellmeister specialities, he collaborated with many living sound groups and projects. He founded his own label Compromat with Sasha Khizhnyakov. At the end of 2009 Stepan was nominated to TEFI as a sound engineer of a movie. Now Kammerton is a regular guest of Moscow club Propaganda and resident of internet stream Friendly Vibes.

Max Grabke

A native of Dresden, Max Grabke moved to Russia at the age of 12. With the advent of the 2000 Max was affected by electronic virus and has started his career as a DJ. Love for minimalistic vibrations and deeply tales inevitably lead Grabke to a passion for deep dub techno mixture. As a result Max has created his own innovative style in the quality of electronic journies. Since 2004 Max became a resident in the fabulous club of Moscow Mix. At the same time he cooperated with Deepmix Radio recording his first unique sets at OBO & HOBOS studio. In less than ten years his DJ sets sounded in Moscow best clubs, aswell overall in the Russia. In 2009 Max with Kammerton have started to create own music project.

Onlee

DJ Onlee (Boris Romanov) grew up in communist Russia listening to Russian, French and Italian pop music and the classics – Chaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Verdi, Prokofiev and Shostakovitch. His first vinyl was a copy of The Beatles’ For Sale album that he borrowed from a friend (son of an ambassador, hence the access to such luxuries). Boris then proceeded to save his lunch money (one rouble a day) to buy as many albums as possible from the likes of Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Slade, etc. He tried many different careers – as an aeronautical engineer, a courier, served in the army and even started training to be a doctor, only to decide (after 4 years) that it was not the right path for him. Eventually with the collapse of communism came new opportunities – in 1994 Boris achieved one of his dreams and opened a record shop. In 1995 Boris’s discovery of Harthouse and Global Communication’s 76:14 album lead to new developments in the stock of his shop as all things electronic hit Moscow City. Boris Romanov’s Only Records was one of very few shops in Moscow selling electronic music at the time. He also launched Only Records label, releasing mix compliations from Glasgow Undersround and 20:20 Vision, plus albums by Tetris, a forward-thinking Moscow band, whom he helped to release an album on Pork Recordings, and Karl Uhan Street Spring, favourites of Dougee Dimensional (The Gentle People) and Michael Reinboth (Compost Records).

He began to dj in his forties, and presented a radio show called Pin Tweaks on Hope Radio (the so-called “Moscow women’s radio station”), playing a mix of electronica, downtempo and uptempo. Unfortunately his tastes were perhaps a little too avantgarde for the average Moscow women, and the show was taken off air after the radio’s manager heard him play a track from Aphex Twin (”Why is my station transmitting this noise?” – she demanded on the phone in the middle of the show. – “This is NOT music!”). In 1997 Boris djed extensively on Radio Substance – a unique subdivision of the Radio Station (later Station 2000), and 1998 saw him infiltrate a very mainstream rock station, Radio ROKS, playing his usual bewildering selection of underground music that struck his fancy at the time. 1998 was a challenging year. The infamous Russian economic crash lead to the closure of Boris’s shop, but he picked up the pieces and started Thursdays at Propaganda – the night that has become synonymous with quality music, the weekly event at which many of the world’s top DJs ask to play. In 2002 Boris started a 2-year Friday weekly residency at Propaganda, Moscow with Alison Marks, where they played the best in quality underground electronic sounds. Since 2007 he starts his new projects in Propaganda – Saturday nights called Origin. In 2005 Boris organized Subelectronica event at Club Shanti in Moscow specifically to showcase live acts such as Touane, Pantha du Prince, Max Mohr, Tigerskin, Duplex 100, Mike Shannon and many others. The night continues to grow as is the way with everything this man touches. Next year will see Thursdays at Propaganda celebrating its 12th anniversary – quite a feat for a Thursday night event anywhere and a testament to the quality of Boris’s taste and strength of his intuition. Constantly evolving as a DJ and refining his sound, DJ Onlee continues to quietly cause a storm wherever he goes – with impeccable timing and vision. In 2006 Boris organized his digital label Lichen Records distributed by Beatport with releases from russian and international producers. Since 2007 he starts his new project at Propaganda – weekly Saturday night called Origin. Constantly evolving as a DJ and refining his sound, DJ Onlee continues to quietly cause a storm wherever he goes – with impeccable timing and vision.

Sasha Khizhnyakov

Sasha Khizhnyakov was born on April 1, 1988, in the settlement of Belorechenskiy, the Irkutsk Region (Eastern Siberia, Russia). In 1996 in his room one might heard an ambiguous Wu-Tang, favorite Daft Punk and UK Garage with all its substyles. In 2000 began to dance «high» break-dance with his team LSB. He arranged parties growing every year into open airs. Putting an end to the career of a dancer in 2004 Sasha became a beatmaker of local hip-hop groups appearing with them as a dj. It lasted not so long, and later on Sasha paied weekly visits to a legendary Irkutsk night club, «Object 01». After graduating from college in Summer 2007 he returned to a turntable again. The performance at the festival «Biopole» , which takes place in the Buryat Republic at a beautiful lake Baikal, became the right place for his inspiration. In October 2007 he started his radio-show Electronica at 104.4 FM in the town of Usolie-Sibirskoe under the nickname of «Sasha Mix». Some time later the show was in online rotation in Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Belgorod, Ulan-Ude and other towns. The main idea of the show was to get people acquainted with the music which they couldn’t hear every day due to the fuss of the life in small towns and their suburbs. The representatives of the undeground movement of the Irkutsk Region frequently came to the studio, each of them told his/hers stories , opinions and impressions while demonstrating favourite records.

In May 2008 Sasha started a similarly-named label in the support of his radio-show which by that moment was actively discussed in the Web due to the shared podcasts. The releases happened monthly gaining their own listeners and musicians. Today there are more then 50 of them! There are almost all both key young and perspective musicians and already successful representatives of Russian and Western electronica in the list of his artists. In Winter 2008 Sasha returned to writting music. He started his fresh experiments under the nickname of 9 Fake Tears, and he still works on it. First works released on labels Electronica and Passage. 6 months later a new project River’n’Sea started its being. It includes Sasha and his friend Dmitriy Yakovlev. In Summer 2009, simultaneously with performances, the guys began to write joint tracks. 3 months later their first works received support from Tiefschwartz, Matt Star, Franco Bianco, Pheek, Sebastian Koch and others. Later on there followed the signing of first contracts with labels Darek (Switzerland), Cimelde (Romania), Aenaria (Italy), Damm Records (Germany), Baile Musik (Croatia), Blumenbeat (the Ukraine), Herz ist Trumpf (Germany) and others. In December 2009 the guys moved to Moscow where they became RTS.FM residents and frequent guests of such clubs. During his leisure time, free from tours and studio works, Sasha keeps on taking an active part in the life of the label. He works not only on Electronica, but also on new label Compromat with Stepan Chernov aka Kammerton.

Harry Light

Harry is a sneakers slave, basement groover and true house music inventor. Addicted to a sound and music since he was able to hear, Harry has managed to create his own tracks right from his heart and feet.  Since it was actively supported by his friends, Harry has started to find out that he needs more ears, not only for the glory, but only for the dancefloor happiness. Inspired by the post soviet urbanistic atmosphere of Moscow and the original house music from 80′s and 90′s, Harry decided to make his own influence and impact on the most innovative and seminal genre of electronic music.
